Dear Melissa,

Oh, I see. When we met, we were under the impression you were on board and just had to contact Sensenbrenner???s office. As you may recall, we envisioned action on the bill to sync with the anniversaries of the Olmstead decision and the signing of the ADA. We agreed to keep you in the loop with details about the ADA celebration in July when Washington will be filled with disabled people. You expressed an interest in having your office support those festivities.

As I mentioned, Congressman Jeffries has taken the step to be added as a cosponsor, which would leave you as the lone NY Democratic office not on board. It means a great deal to us to have the support of Democrats given our members??? incredible efforts to help preserve the ACA.

I hope checking in with James and Judiciary staff is a formality? I can follow up next week with you on this.

Thank you,
Kathryn Carroll
Member, ADAPT

On April 8, S. Woodward, S. Poost, and K. Carroll met with Melissa Connolly (legislative director) who said there must have been a miscommunication with the committee office and she respected and valued our work on ACA. She would make sure they reached out to Amy Bos and get on the bill. Follow up with her at Melissa.connolly@mail.house.gov

On January 9, Sophie Poost met with James Park and additional staffer Matt. They stated that they would need to review the bill once more but that if it has been something he has supported prior they felt they would likely support it again. They were interested in seeing the bills new text and the specific technical changes. James email is james.park@mail.house.gov

Hi David,

I am reaching out to ask if Representative Nadler will cosponsor the Disability Integration Act again. The DIA was reintroduced last week as HR. 555 (and in the Senate it was introduced by Minority Leader Schumer as S. 117). The bill is both bicameral and bipartisan, and already has 52 cosponsors in the House. Last session Rep. Nadler cosponsored the bill, then known as HR 2472. The bill is substantially the same with minor technical edits which were suggested by AARP.

To cosponsor the bill, please contact Amy Bos at Congressman Sensenbrenner???s office.

Will Representative Nadler cosponsor DIA?

Thanks,

Stephanie Woodward, J.D.
